Crunchyroll is investing in its gaming operations with self-developed projects
I do genuinely enjoy Crunchyroll so I am happy they are expanding this way
If you are an anime fan, you know the best place to go is Crunchyroll. For balance; there are other options available, but they just aren’t as good. You may have heard recently that the subscription prices rose a bit by $2.00 each tier. Small, but adds up. Now, however, we have seen where some of that money is going.
One of the best parts of Crunchyroll is the Game Vault, full to the brim with anime tie-in games and things of that ilk. From old classics like Lock’s Quest and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, to officially licensed titles including Psycho-Pass, there is a lot to love.
Now, instead of just hosting them, Crunchyroll is going to take a swing at developing some.
Under the Crunchyroll Games banner, the team will craft these titles alongside Japanese publishers and global developers. The amount of specific details is mind-boggling, isn’t it? It is all pretty hush-hush right now, but we can expect more news later this year. That may just be further plans, however. 2026 might not see a Crunchyroll original game.

This move does not mean they will step away from hosting existing titles. Far from it. There are around 90 games already in the vault, and Crunchyroll is set to make that 100 before long. Although they include stuff like Honkai: Star Rail, which is already free from any storefront, do we count them?
Anyway, almost 100. We already know that Beyblade X Xone and Lost Hellden are coming to the vault, as a debut mobile edition, no less. However, Crunchyroll has revealed a huge new slate of titles heading its way later this year. They include Call of Boba, where you run your own boba shop, and Mythic Love: Iberian Legends, a game in which you flirt with monsters from Spanish folklore. I wanted to find a gory one for the cute to crass contrast, but this caught me off guard.
You can subscribe to Crunchyroll for access to the Game Vault from the official website.
