Arknights: Endfield 1.2 will only feature one new character
I got too used to the two-banner system for gacha games that this feels off.
Arknights: Endfield may be a factory game at its core, but its monetization system revolves around gacha, which is why the developer has to keep releasing new characters to keep the money flowing.
Typically, gacha games would release one or two new characters per version, up to three new characters if the third person is a lower-rarity unit. Then, one version will be split into two phases, with each phase having its own set of banners.
It seems that Endfield is set to break this rule, as it has been winging the gacha banner system. In version 1.0, three new Operators are available, each banner lasting for two weeks. In Endfield 1.1, two new Operators are added, and for the upcoming Arknights: Endfield 1.2, Gryphline will only release one new Operator.

Zhuang Fangyi is the only new character in Endfield 1.2
After spending quite some time in Valley VI, you'll find yourself in Wuling. Of course, as the protagonist, you already have connections in Wuling, as the leader of the region immediately welcomes the team. The leader of Wuling is Zhuang Fangyi, who will be playable in version 1.2.Zhuang Fangyi is a Striker-Lightning Operator, so you can expect her to be another DPS. She uses Art Units in combat, similar to Perlica.
As the only character debuting in the entire version, her banner will last for the full five weeks. Additionally, a special banner, Fest of Brilliance, will also be available. The banner has special rules and will feature Laevatain, Gilberta, Pogranichnik, and Ardelia. An almost-perfect lineup, if we take Ardelia out. But well, I guess one must simply hope they won't "lose" their pull to another Ardelia.
Arknights: Endfield 1.2 is scheduled for release on April 16 or April 17, 2026, depending on your local time zone.
