iOS + Android + Steam ...

I am extremely torn about the recent reveal of Waltz of the Wizards' mobile release date. On the one hand, it is an amusing and entertaining game, but on the other, it is iOS only, and that is incredibly annoying. I guess I will have to vent my frustration on Skully on October 27th.

That’s right, in less than a month, Apple wielders will be able to experience all the magical fun Waltz of the Wizard has to offer. Android players will just have to watch on forlornly. You will no doubt know of this game from the countless videos of people launching the talking skull out of the window. Is it still funny if a million people have recorded it before you? Kind of.

In Waltz of the Wizard, you step into the shoes of the eponymous apprentice, brewing all manner of weird and wonderful potions under the watchful and ever-talkative supervision of Skully. As you guessed, he is a skull. Sounds basic, but the game has a massive range of combinations to choose between, and secrets to discover.

Although the majority of the humour does come from messing around. Skully will react with frustration and downright disdain when you get things wrong, and you can even indulge your sadistic side and torment the poor guy. Make him disappear, drop him in the cauldron, or yes, straight out the window.

Even better, there will be new ways to torture Skully, I mean, new areas to explore as Skully’s Fantastic Fails drops on the same day. This gives you access to the Courtyard, events in the Tower that include Igor and Milton, and a rocket launch section to play around with. I wonder how many of the exact same videos of sending Skully to space will be on YouTube within the first hour.

A special iOS-exclusive Reality Mode will also be available. This brings the magical world to AR, and will even recognise your facial inputs. You can wink at Skully, if you're into that, play hide-and-seek, and there are all manner of other neat, hidden tricks to uncover.

Waltz of the Wizard will launch on iOS on October 27th.
