Summoners War: Sky Arena celebrates its 12th anniversary by mocking stupid game adverts

If you have watched any YouTube video, then you will have no doubt of encountering the scourge of the mobile game ad. The occasionally weirdly adult but always rubbish “gameplay” videos that turn out to be advertising just another city builder. They are utter rubbish, and it seems that Summoners War: Sky Arena developers Com2uS seem to agree.

Summoners War is celebrating its 12th anniversary, and while there are in-game events, my favourite occurrence is definitely the series of ad parodies they put out. You can find them all on YouTube, and they are well worth a look. They are groundbreaking by any means; we all have had these criticisms, but not all of us have the backing to hire actors to mock them.

Amongst them is one lampooning all the match-3 ads with the bad players, and another that attacks those mafia level-up to boss adverts. Or, skip to my favourite one, where an overly “anime” anime girl turns out not to be what she seems. The reveal made me chuckle.

Wait until they see all the Hero Wars ads. 

It isn't all just amusing mockery for Summoners War's anniversary

Alas, we should turn our attention to the actual gameplay bit, the anniversary. Twelve years is a big milestone, and to celebrate, all of Sky Island will turn into a party. There will be fireworks, displays, and live-style appearances from fan favourite monsters in Idol Star Transmogrifications.

Ever wanted to see Hell Lady as an Idol? No, me neither, but we are getting it.

On top of the aesthetics, there are also some system updates. A Summon Mileage feature will guarantee a 5-star after a few pulls, the Deck Preset will let you save team compositions later this month, and you can collect Relics for share buffs to Monsters. You can also engage in some anniversary events for rewards, such as 200 12-Year Special Scrolls to beef up that squad.
