SMiniz pre-registrations open for K-Pop flavoured Match-3
If this does not turn into another Candy Crush, it will not be because of the core concept
For reasons I can’t grasp, Match-3 games are massive beasts. K-Pop is also a global hit, although that one I understand more; Golden was incredibly catchy. But what happens if you put them together? Well, Kakao Games is risking this world-shattering occurrence, as pre-registrations for SMiniz have opened.
SMiniz was made in conjunction with SM Entertainment, one of South Korea's biggest K-Pop companies. As such, members of bands produced by the companies will be popping up in games. The likes of RIIZE, aespa, and NCT shall be represented in miniature, cutesy forms. It will be like Pokémon but for K-Pop singers.
Although Pokémon Shuffle was already a thing, and I would choose Eevee over K-Pop.
As mentioned above, pre-registrations are open, however it is worth noting that the closing date is a little vague. The press release states that it will be open until February 23rd; however, the official website still has the period close date as “N/A."
It may just not be updated, but if you are interested, it might be best to stick your name down sooner rather than later to be safe.

And pre-register you should, for you will stick with the game with some extra goodies. Specifically, you will receive 5 Group Draw Tickets to kick-start your K-Pop collection. As well of miniature version of your favourite stars, you will also be able to find photocards and fan zone spaces as you play. Or, show off your fandom even more with customisable costumes.
I would be remarkably surprised if this does not end up doing extremely well. You are smashing two of the most popular things together, backed up by official artists. Match-3 has never been my thing, but I suspect I will be hearing a lot more about this one for the foreseeable future.
