Curse you RuneScape for looking so good, I don’t the time to add another MMORPG to my list!

It's hard to believe that RuneScape is celebrating its 25th birthday this year. By which I mean, I don’t want to believe it cause I played it in high school and it makes me feel old. Yet it is, and Jagex has quite the year planned.

In April, players will be receiving a Player Avatar Refresh, upgrading character models, animations, hair, and more. Whenever I think of RuneScape characters, I always think of the old blocky ones, but the graphics have really increased since then. Characters look quite nice now, so an extra boost will be lovely.

Speaking of characters, Player Owned Houses will also be getting a bit of an improvement. Construction will be increased to 120, and there will be a new recipe system added. This will add furniture inspired by in-game achievements, adventures, and victories that players can unlock and build.

After a successful debut last year, Leagues will return with the limited-time Leagues II. It has been tweaked according to community feedback, with overpowered relics, tasks, and challenges all being added. Additionally, progression through tiers will also be much quicker, allowing even those with obligations outside of RuneScape to reach the top.

RuneScape gets Haventythe area expansion

All this pales in comparison to Haventythe. This will be RuneScape's biggest area expansion and will be introduced in multiple parts throughout the year. New quests, early-game bosses, and the increased Hunter skill cap to 110 will all be part of the fun. You might want to pack the garlic, however, as things will be getting a little bit Vampiric.

As good as all this looks, we still need to acknowledge that Jagex has admitted that they made a few faux pas last year. Their 2026 Roadmap is called the “Road to Restoration”, slightly fittingly, and started with the removal of the Treasure Hunter system. Also, Thieving heists! You can check out the full roadmap on the Jagex website.

RuneScape is available from the App Store and Google Play.
