Resident Evil Survival Unit, a mobile-exclusive title based on CAPCOM’s iconic survival-horror series, has been released worldwide for iOS and Android devices by Aniplex and JOYCITY.

Available on both platforms as a free download with in-app purchases, Survival Unit combines base-building and real-time strategy, set in a parallel world where a ruined city lies in the aftermath of a virus outbreak, echoing the events depicted in the original console titles.

The game was co-developed by Aniplex and JOYCITY and tasks players with building a stronghold in a virus-ravaged world where hordes of infected and other mutated monstrosities are an everpresent threat.

Gathering resources, upgrading bases, deploying units to quash threats and interacting with other groups of survivors are among the core duties that await you in Survival Unit.

Fan-favorite characters from the Resident Evil series, including Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield and Jill Valentine will feature in the game and can be assembled into squads. Original characters also join the roster, and new mutated creatures await.

Among the highlights of Survival Unit monster menagerie is Mortem, a terrifying original creature designed exclusively for this game by world-renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano, who made a guest contribution to the game. The creature is described as an “eerie presence that lingers in the unknown”.

Resident Evil Survival Unit, which attracted more than 2 million sign-ups in prelaunch, is available to download from Google Play and the App Store. It also has an official YouTube channel for anyone looking for updates and all of the promotional videos released so far.
