It feels like almost all of our game of the week award votes are close run things. Probably because there are so many awesome games coming out on the App Store at the moment. Last week was no different, but we can now reveal that the winner of the award is Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War.

It's a tight MOBA set in Games Workshop's fantasy world, and it's all about using your units at the right time to take down your opponent. It's got a few twists that make it stand out from the rest of the genre though, and we reckon they make it a game that's a worthy winner of last week's hypothetical trophy.

The game feels a lot like a stepping stone between the likes of Clash Royale and the more fully featured MOBAs like Vainglory. The learning curve isn't as steep as in those other games, but there's more to get to grips with than spamming out the game's equivalent of Hog Riders.

There's a second lane along the top of the board that gives you an extra, optional, but supremely powerful card to play. And your hero, who also acts as your final tower, has a special move they can throw out when things get tough.

Everything looks lovely here, and the way the game makes use of the sparkly new bits and bobs that came with iOS12 and ARkit 2 are definitely worth checking out if you've got the hardware.

But above all else, the game's just a lot of fun. It gets its mix of strategy and accessibility pretty much spot on, and building up your deck to take on more powerful players is a lot of fun.

If you want to grab the game from the App Store after reading all that, you just have to click here to get the process started. It's free as well, so that's nice. And if you want to know what won last week's game of the week award, click here to do just that.
