Squid Game: Unleashes gets a plethora of content thanks to the release of Squid Games Season 2
We don’t do TV show reviews here, but I feel like Squid Games Season 2 didn't hit as hard as the original did. Maybe because it was released in that lazy week between Christmas and New Yaer. Cultural phenomenon or not, however, its release does mean some shiny new content for Squid Game: Unleashed.
It will all kick off tomorrow, January 3rd for those reading after today. Straight from Season 2, you can try a round or two of Mingle, with the objective being to find and occupy a safe room before the timer runs out. If you are outside, you are eliminated, and your phone explodes. Maybe not, but that would be hilarious.
You can also play as Geum-Ja, Player 149, a devoted mother from the second season. She has a chance to start each level with a dodgeball, which is better than no weapon, I guess. Until January 9th you can also enjoy the Dalgona Mash Up Collect Event. Here you can unlock our dodgeball champion as a character.
Fast forward to the 9th, and Thanos will be unlocked. Not purple snap Thanos, Player 230, a rapper, a massive letdown. He does have a bonus chance to use shields though. From the 9th to the 14th you can play Thanos’ Red Light Challenges, tasking you to use knives to eliminate players until you unlock the man himself.
This will last until January 16th, with our final gift of playing as Yong-Sik. Player 007, sadly not a secret agent, is the debt-ridden son of Geuym-Ja from Season 2 and starts each game with fireworks. I dunno, maybe a distraction technique. Either way, pretty booms.
Finally, thanks to the Netflix of it all, watching the new season of Squid Game will unlock in-game presents for you. Everyone will start with 15,000 Cash for free. then watching one episode will unlock 20 Wild Tokens, two get 20,000 Cash increasing and alternating between the two until Episode Seven. This will net you the Binni Binge-Watcher Outfit, so you look fashionable as you inevitably trip and die in game one.
Squad Game: Unleashed is available from the App Store and Google Play, and for a limited time, does not require a Netflix account. So, why not give it a go?
