Whilst IOI is busy beavering away on 007 First Light, that doesn’t mean they are forgetting the series that put them on the map: Hitman. Back in June, we had the announcement that Blood Money's first level was going free-to-play, quickly followed by confirmation that the World of Assassination trilogy is coming to mobile. Now, Blood Money's follow-up, Hitman: Absolution, is heading to mobile this summer.

Absolution continued Agent 47’s journey with an explosive introduction, with the ICA ordering him to assassinate his handler and closest ally, Diana Burnwood. After shooting her, 47 discovers Diana was harbouring a young girl, Victoria, another genetically modified human who was also to become a mindless killer. Seeking to save her, 47 betrays the ICA and seeks to save his new young charge.

Admittedly, this was the last game before the revamp into World of Assassination, so maybe the story didn’t gel for everyone, but it is a good premise. All that aside, Absolution continued the Hitman series' classic gameplay style of stalking your foes, somehow being a master of disguise despite not looking like anyone whose outfit you chose, and pulling off some spectacular, stealthy kills.

Or, of course, you could say nuts to that and just cause a string of mayhem and explosions. However you play, you can try to get high scores, complete each mission's challenges, or just let loose and see how creative you can get with the kills. 47 has access to all manner of weapons, gadgets, and environmental hazards to choose from.

Thanks to Blood Money - Reprisal, Feral Interactive is already a master at porting Hitman to mobile, so you can trust the touchscreen controls will be on point. All you need to worry about is sitting tight until the vague Autumn release date. Pre-orders for Hitman: Absolution are now open on the App Store and Google Play, and will cost $14.99.
