Garena Free Fire announces upcoming Digimon Adventure collaboration
And I want to spam Blue Blaster. Please.
Garenas Free Fire World Series Southeast Asia 2025 has recently concluded, and a champion has been crowned. If you want more information on the esports side of things, check out my colleague's coverage on AppSpy because that isn’t what grabbed me. What piqued my interest, my nerdy little heart's interest, was the upcoming collaboration with Digimon Adventure.
Now, I adore Digimon, I always have. Digimon World on the PlayStation 1 is iconic, the anime is great, and the recent Digimon Story series is amazing. Digimon Story: Time Stranger is owning the Steam concurrent player chart, and has 9.4 on Metacritic. Suffice to say, the resurgence is on, and I am loving it.
What I am not loving, however, is the lack of details we got. It was a blink and you will miss it announcement. Which, yes, I suppose it was the champion's moment, well done to them, but they aren’t a Gabumon. The two solid pieces of information we got were that it will launch in November and that it will be the first season.
Which is good; the Digimon anime peaked early in a lot of people's eyes. Also, more Gabumon.

So, we are left to wonder what we will get. My initial reaction was “oh no, we are going to shoot Digimon," then I remembered the likes of MetalGabumon and Rapidmon. They are walking armouries; you couldn’t shoot them. One shot and you would have a dozen rockets headed your way.
Instead, let’s do some investigation. In the past year or there abouts, Free Fire has collaborated with Naruto, Squid Games, Demon Slayer, and, most weirdly, the football anime Blue Lock. Most of these collabs were cosmetic; think character and gun skins. That is most likely the case for Digimon, of course. And yet...
The Naruto collaboration also brought skills from the series into Free Fire for us to use. This includes an exploding clay bird you could control. The safe money says cosmetics, but what if we can capture Digimon and use their skills against foes, like the bird? Something for Garena to think about. Give me Gabumon and let me spam Blue Blaster.
