Have you ever looked out on the sea, waves gently lapping in and out, and thought, “I wish I could eat every single boat out there”? If you did, keep away from your local marina, and instead relish in the news that Maneater has officially released on mobile today.

This is one of those delightfully straightforward games. You are a shark, and you eat things to get bigger. It does have a shocking backstory, however. At the beginning, your pregnant mother is killed by a hunter, then you are cut out of her and deformed by said maniac. So it is a tale of revenge, as well as eating anything you see.

You start as a Bull Shark pop, a small fish in a very big pond, so you must avoid angry humans and bigger fish. Instead, you will feed on anything smaller than you, until you manage to get big enough to devour anything in front of you. This includes the vast quantity of humans and boats that invade your aquatic home.

Unfortunately, a lot of what you encounter actually doesn’t want to be eaten. I know, the nerve of them. They will fight back, and if you are not careful, you will be absolutely minced by bullets. So you need to arm yourself, which you can with an array of handy, and often hilarious, evolutions.

If you want to literally solve problems with your head, you can get an armored dome to allow that. For those who want a more hi-tech shark, you can turn your tail into a lightning projector to stun foes. You can even use a swordfish to stab people. That one isn’t an evolution, but it is hilarious.

There are tons of ways to run to sea, and even better, it is a try-before-you-buy title, so you have nothing to lose. Check out Maneater on the App Store and Google Play.
