Blue Protocol: Star Resonance has finally launched this week after a long period of anticipation. When hearing that announcement, I honestly didn’t expect much. Scoff, thought I, another gacha. However, having reviewed it before the release, I would genuinely recommend this game to everyone. News impartiality be damned.

It is an Action RPG in the same vein as Genshin Impact, except a lot better, to be honest. For one, there is more emphasis on the main character being your guy. There is a massive range of cosmetics and outfits to collect, and you fight as them permanently. It is a gacha game that doesn’t have you ditching the MC about five minutes in.

There are eight combat classes ranging from across the whole gambit of gamings usual suspects. You can attack up close with the Stormblade and heir Reaper Scythe, or hang back as a Marksman with your bow and animal companions. Whether the storm as the tanky Shield Knight, or support and heal your friends as the Beat Performer. Who wields a Guitar.

That's a weird one, yeah.

You will never be short of things to do, thanks to the near endless amount of content. There are always one or two world events happening, including racing or patrolling for foes, not to mention crafting and gathering to master. If you want to get even more into the creative side of things, you can unlock your own island later on in the story.

Here you can grow crops, decorate your house, and craft furniture using the combined knowledge from all your crafting skills. Of course, being an MMO, you can join a guild with your friends and take on the world together. Finally, and perhaps the best part, it is a gacha game where you truly don’t need to spend a penny to enjoy it to the fullest.

Download Blue Protocol: Star Resonance now from the App Store and Google Play.
