Blade and Soul Heroes has launched globally for some Action MMORPG fun
The dreaded Stalker Jiangshi...
NC America has built up quite the catalogue in the MMORPG world with the likes of Lineage 2, Aion, and Blade & Soul, and they are set to expand that on mobile today. Blade & Soul Heroes has finally launched, and you can grab it on mobile today. Plus PC, but they don’t matter here.
Heroes acts as a prequel to the existing Blade & Soul entries and centres on a character named Yusol. Their clan has been destroyed, and it is up to you to rebuild it, with the help of a few recognisable faces. You will meet the likes of Poharan, Yura, and Mushin, and form a team of five formidable champions out of the initial approximately 40 available.
You will battle through 16 chapters of real-time combat, where you will need to dodge, parry, attack, and link up with party members to pull off special shiny moves. Advance enough, and you will unlock PvP modes. These run automatically, and you can have the battle in a little picture-in-picture display as you continue your grand quest.

NC America is determined to fire Blade & Soul Heroes out of the gate with this launch, and has already scheduled their first update. This will release on September 30th. Yep, next week. Why didn’t they just bundle it with the launch? We will never know. What we do know is that it is named Scorching Sands.
The update will put in a new max character level of 40, and introduce the dreaded Stalker Jiangshi as a PvE Field Boss. If you recognise the name, it is because they are one of the first bosses in the original Blade & Soul. They have made a career out of being an early punching bag. There will also be more fights, turn-based challenges, Instanced Dungeons, and more.
Those who follow the series might know this is not Heroes' first launch. That happened in 2024 in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, where it was called Hoyeon. And the developers have learnt a lot in a year. The early game has been streamlined, and a few new mechanics, such as an extra dash, were added to combat. We might not have been in the initial release, but we're getting it at its best.
Blade & Soul Heroes is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
