NCSoft announces the launch of a Mobile Casual Division to branch out into handheld gaming
For the longest time, NCSoft has busied itself in the halls of PC gaming, putting out some fun MMORPGs like Guild Wars and Lineage. Recently, they have dipped their toe into mobile with Blade and Soul Heroes. Little did we know, however, that this was setting the stage for a full-scale mobile invasion. And it is welcome.
Today, NCSoft has announced the launch of a new division to focus on handheld gaming, dubbed the Mobile Casual Division. By the name alone, I don’t think we can expect Guild Wars Mobile to follow anytime soon, but it is still exciting to see what will come from this.
If you look back at the company's portfolio, it is extensively MMORPGs, so it is hard to predict what we will see. They do, weirdly enough, own a baseball team in South Korea, so perhaps there will be a casual slugger game to follow. Maybe a look at the newly appointed Senior Vice President will shed some light.

Anel Ceman will bring 10 years of mobile gaming experience to the role, most recently as VP of Monetization at Tripledot Studios. We would be here all day listing what games Tripledot has had its hands in, but suffice to say, it is an extensive list. Add to this Ceman’s tenure with Outfit7, creators of the wildly successful Talking Tom series, and NCSoft has placed a safe pair of hands at the wheel.
It will be interesting to watch and see just which way NCSoft takes this new division, and what the first game will be. I, for one, am happy we are seeing another big name move over to mobile development, especially ones that brought us Guild Wars 2. It may be called the Casual Division, but come on, guys, bring out Guild Wars Mobile.
