Astrae Oratio introduces us to a few of the magicians in its magical world
It might not be showing anything massively special yet, but Astrae Oratio has got my interest
One of the biggest genres of anime and manga is the Magical Girl series. Stuff like Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, I am sure we all know and love from our youth, or later ones like Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Dynamis One seems to have been studying these stories for their upcoming mobile game, Astrae Oratio.
Set in modern Tokyo, the tide of evil is held back by a suite of magicians, all broken up into different groups across the city. Tensions can rise in a world such as this, which is why you have been drafted in as a Shunin. Your role is to manage every single one of these magicians and ensure magic is only used against the enemy, not each other.
The team have released the latest trailer for the game, this time introducing a few of the characters and giving us more glimpses at the gameplay. It looks to be a turn-based affair like Honkai Star Rail, and, of course, there also seems to be gacha. Why wouldn’t there be?

I already have a standout favourite
With these introductions, my favourite so far is looking to be Mitsukoe Luna. If this is Madoka Magica, she is Homura Akemi, or in Bleach terms, the Uryuu Ishida to the newbie Ichigo Kurosaki. The experienced hand watching in distaste as the new user fumbles their way through.I tend to like these archetypes; Uryuu Ishida is one of my favourite anime characters. However, there is one key moment in the trailer that cements this favourite status for Luna. In a world of magicians and magic, she pulls out a gun and just shoots someone for an attack. And that is just unnecessarily hilarious for me.
Whilst it is confirmed that Astrae Oratio will be coming to mobile, the storefront pages aren't up yet. Instead, you can poke around the official website until more news arrives. It looks like it could be fun, gacha aside.
