Asphalt Legends teams up with DragonForce for new game mode
Guitar Hero had Through the Fire and Flames back in 2007, and my back hurts a little more finding for that out
If there are two things that go hand in hand, it is music and driving. Or another iconic pairing: music and gaming. Asphalt Legends is shooting for that holy trinity of music, driving, and gaming, via a collaboration starting tomorrow until March 3rd with a surprising guest.
The band is DragonForce, which is a rather interesting choice.
I will admit right now, I am not the biggest metalhead. I like the basics. Sabaton, Ghost, Disturbed, Dio; your “babies' first metal band” vibe. But, even with that base knowledge, DragonForce haven’t been big in a while, I don’t think? They had their day back with Guitar Hero, when Through the Fire and Flames was everyone's worst nightmare. It's an odd choice, is what I am saying.
Let’s put the music criticism of a man who would struggle to play a Kazoo to one side and focus on what the event has in store. As everyone will expect, there will be some of DragonForce's music added to the game. There are 4 tracks, headlined, of course, by Through the Fire and Flames. It feels like, for a band with 9 albums, it should be more than 4, but okay.

Next, we have decals themed after DragonForce albums, 'cause you just have to look good. The Nilu27 NILU, a new car, will receive an ultra Beatdown-themed decal, or you could step into the Porsche 935 DragonForce Edition based on the Inhuman rampage album. The BXR Bailey GT1 will be rocking a Highway to Oblivion-based album, and Porsche strikes again with the 911 GTS Coupe having a generic DragonForce aesthetic.
Finally, no drive is completely without a spectacular soundtrack, which is what the Rhythm Overdrive game mode is all about. You will need to outrun security as you collect items, all whilst racing in beat to the song. Lose the rhythm, and the sounds will dull, and the screen turn to grey. Because nothing is worse than driving without tunes.
Asphalt Legends is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
