Torchlight: Infinite celebrates its third anniversary with the Lunaria season

I swear that time is broken, because Torchlight: Infinite is only celebrating its third anniversary. A ringing endorsement to its impact, I suppose. Timey wimey stuff aside, this new season, SS12 Lunaria, is available now, complete with the eponymous mechanic.

Slap on a Lunar Ring, and you will be able to wake up and beat the tar out of Lunar Stone Statues. After, gather up the loot and energy, and repeat. Lunar Omens and Rhapsodies will randomly trigger, changing these encounters. For example, stronger, golden statues will appear with better loot, so let's all pray for that one.

In addition to this seasonal loot, there is a new permanent addition: the Creation Engine. You can find these around the map, guarded by Creation Sentries, who are delightful loot pinatas. Dispatch them, and nearby Creation Crystals will sprout into top-quality loot, so go get swinging.

This loot can be manipulated with Netherrealm Talents. There are two routes to follow, with the Whimsical Creation Crystal offering more loot when you match two identical crystals. Or, you can cause Gold Creation Crystals, which chain-activate every crystal within the Creation Engine. That one sounds better.

Perhaps the worst class name ever

With all this, we could forget that we are also getting the Scent Weaver Sage. Terrible name, but she is an elixir hero who can change recipes mid-fight and grant exclusive boons.

Level her up enough, and you can specialise in the Scholar, which maxes life and mana, or the Mad Scientist. This is the correct choice. It adds an extra offensive flask, which is cool, but more importantly, who doesn't want to be a Mad Scientist? As a result of the Sage's introduction, the potion system is transforming to Elixir Skills, with the biggest change being that there are charge points now, not cooldowns.

Lunaria is mixing up the progression system, called Renewed Memories. Revival is a new crafting method, offering more powerful traits. There is also the Modularization mechanic, which allows you to summon a copy of a recently defeated boss. Or at least a lesser version with a small set of their abilities.

To celebrate the third anniversary, there is the Midas Touch event currently going on. Complete objectives to earn rewards such as draws, making this a great time to start. Download Torchlight: Infinite from the App Store and Google Play.
