How RF Online Next brings next-level warfare to mobile
The next generation of mobile warfare
War. What is it good for? Well, in RF Online Next, it's good for showcasing the raw power that today's smartphones and tablets are capable of.
When the original RF Online launched in 2004, it took a torpedo to tired MMORPG tropes, trading swords and sorcery for sprawling sci-fi warfare fought with nuclear launchers, mechanised exosuits and holy magic. Now, Netmarble has rebuilt that formula with RF Online Next, bringing large-scale futuristic warfare straight to the palm of your hand. Here's how the studio has combined the power of current-gen handsets and ambitious game design to make it happen.

Built for modern mobile hardware
Unreal Engine 5 sits at the heart of RF Online Next's visual upgrade. Character models, armour, lighting and environmental detail all benefit from the engine's modern rendering technology, allowing sprawling futuristic cities and battlefields to run on current-generation smartphones while maintaining the visual fidelity expected from a contemporary MMORPG.The game's large environments are designed to load seamlessly as players move between exploration and combat, avoiding the segmented feel often associated with older mobile MMOs. Combined with dynamic effects and high-detail assets, the result is a world that feels closer to a PC online game than a traditional mobile release.
Combat without compromise
Unlike traditional fantasy MMOs that restrict your combat style, RF Online Next introduces advanced Biosuits and open-air Flight Actions to change how you move across the battlefield. Players can choose from eight specialised Biosuits, including the ranged-focused Punisher, alongside the Phantom, Enforcer, Psypher, Dreadnought, Technician, Arbiter and Demolisher. These suits allow players to unleash powerful skills and freely switch forms mid-battle, allowing you to instantly pivot between melee offense, heavy defense, ranged attacks, and vital team support roles depending on how the war tides are turning.
Compounding this tactical depth is a sophisticated flight system that enables altitude shifts, sudden boosts, hovering, and smooth landings. This enables seamless combat across ground and air, letting players infiltrate active battle zones from unexpected angles, use three-dimensional terrain strategies, and strike enemy lines directly from their blind spots.
Massive battles in your pocket
The definitive proving ground for this portable tech is the legendary Mining War, a massive guild-based conflict that inherits the signature identity of the original title. This mode centers on a fierce competition between the three nations for control of the Holy Stone, a core resource essential for character growth and equipment progression.Deployed as a massive warfare feature that supports up to 450 players in a single battle, the conflict begins with preliminary round Skirmishes before escalating into a full-scale Faction War where maintaining a strict balance between defense and offense is the key to victory.
When a frontline stalemate occurs, players can summon down or directly pilot their nation’s pinnacle technology, known as Ultimate Gears, for overwhelming power. Players can also deploy their nation's signature Ultimate Gear, including the massive rideable MAU, powerful Launcher Systems, and formidable Animus. These iconic weapons represent the pinnacle of each nation's military technology and can dramatically shift the momentum of large scale battles.
Taxing times
What happens on the battlefield directly shapes the portable economy, which goes far beyond simple trading. Victorious factions in the Mining War receive exclusive benefits, including the authority to set marketplace tax rates and collect tax revenues from server - and world-level markets.Winning guilds also secure exclusive mining rights to special fields, priority entry to active War Zones, and unique titles and costumes to boast about their achievements.
Because the game functions as a true free-market system where currency values fluctuate based on trade volumes across servers and worlds, player participation directly affects the economic landscape. Through strategic economic actions, disadvantaged factions can strategically check the overgrowth of a dominant nation or sustain long-term competition, turning the market itself into an active tactical weapon.
Beyond the grand loop of the Mining War, players can jump into a vast selection of end-game activities. These include the Elysium Scramble, where four distinct guilds battle for control of a space station, the world-scale Planet Conquest for planetary ownership, dedicated player-killing arenas in the Battlegrounds, and massive World Boss raids against threats like Vritra that require coordinated player strategies.
The game is available as a multi-platform release on both PC and mobile devices and is available to download from Netmarble Launcher, Google Play, the App Store and the Epic Games Store.
