As much as we all probably dislike Maths as a subject, we do have to hand it to geometry for giving us the good old Hexgrid, home of some of the best strategy games. One such example, Price of Glory, has dropped its 1.4 Alpha update, stocked full of improvements.

Price of Glory is an asynchronous multiplayer offering where you go toe-to-tactical-toe against your foe, spawning enemies, controlling tiles, and setting traps around to map to bamboozle everyone. Each turn can take up to 24 hours for those wanting a deep, thoughtful affair, or you can try Blitz mode where everyone runs around like a headless chicken thanks to the five-minute turn timer. One of the biggest improvements in this update is the revamped tutorial system. This will teach first-timers have to manage Animo, the resource needed to do pretty much anything, spawn different units, and check everyone's stats. Return players, however, might notice something else looks a bit different.

By something, I mean everything, as Price of Glory is going 3D with its latest map update. You can watch your soldiers do your bidding with a whole added dimension as you send them out to cut through the fog of war, or you know, through enemy units themselves. Who needs tactics when you have a knife?

Folks who want to wade straight into the action can dive into Skirmishes, quickplay matches with no stakes beyond bragging rights. For more structured, more deadly contests, check out Tournaments. 64 players will go head-to-head-to-head and so on, in single-elimination brackets, so the tension is high. You will need Salt Crystals to enter these, however they can be grabbed from the Salt Mines, or from clearing in-game objectives.

You can try out the Price of Glory Open Alpha through the App Store and Google Play.
