Pokémon TCG Pocket releases latest drop event with a subpar offering

After slowly building respect for Pokémon Pocket, they dashed it all with the recent release of Mega Lucario. My boy should have been Aura Sphering people's heads off left and right, not just a piddly 140 slap. At least the ex version had bench damage. Anyway, the actual news: there is a Mega drop event going on.

Unfortunately, it is Mega Heracross, which is kind of an odd choice, given that they could lose the entire game for you. For a massive four energy, you can use Dynamic Horn to deal a fearsome 170 damage. Sounds good; however, it has a 50% chance to deal 60 damage to itself.

Putting that in perspective, Mega Heracross is packing 160 health. That means you can KO yourself in 3 attacks, provided your foe decides not to damage you. And what happens when a Mega Pokémon faints in Pocket? Yep, three points to the opponent, instant defeat. You have horned your way into obscurity.

It also takes a while to get going, four energy and three grass. As I recall, there's no grass acceleration. The only scenario I can see to play it would be an all-or-nothing, back against the wall, A place you probably put yourself in by putting energy on them instead of your other cards. At least it is another for the collection.

Amateur analysis aside, the drop event will last until May 22nd. To pick up Mega Heracross, simply pop over to the Solo Event Battles and rough up the enemy of the week. Doing so will net you some Promo Pack B Series Vol. 8’s that you can open for some special promo cards. On top of Heracross, you can also grab Castform Sunny Form, Tepig, Zarude, and Dwebble.
