Visiontrick Media unveil a non-VR adaption of their hit narrative game
Visiontrick Media has announced the impending mobile port of its acclaimed VR adventure Mare for Apple systems. Fittingly named Mare Pocket Edition, this adaptation will extract the VR elements and give players the ability to try the narrative hit on the go.
After waking up from a dreamless sleep after what had to be an eventful night, you find yourself in a strange land, and even more oddly inhabiting the body of an artificial bird. After striking out you cross paths with a helpless young girl, and venture forth on adventure. Yes, Mare sees you undertaking the bane of many a gamer's life, a prolonged escort mission. Mare is definitely more focused on the journey than any ending, with a huge world full of secrets to find, and your curious companion actively encouraging some exploration. The pocket edition will maintain the simplistic yet undeniably endearing art style of its predecessor, and with the sound being engineered by Tony Gerber, the world of Mare is a charming place to be.

Upon the announcement, Visiontrick said: “We’ve been tinkering away on a new non-VR version and can finally announce that Mare for Apple’s iOS platform, AKA Mare: Pocket Edition, will be coming on the 19th of January 2023.”
“The Pocket Edition retains the visual quality of the VR version but with an added cinematic framing as well as being reimagined with a new control scheme, harking back to yesteryear’s adventure games, while still taking advantage of real-time rendered 3D graphics.”
As stated earlier, Mare Pocket Edition will only be available on Apple devices when it launches in January, with unfortunately no announcement for any Android release in the pipeline. It will certainly be interesting to see if a non-VR adaption can recapture the magic, however, it is inarguably a good thing developers are trying to make their games more accessible to all.
