Virtual reality is the next big thing, and 148Apps's publisher, Steel Media, wants to know what the hottest upcoming games are.

To achieve this, Steel Media has partnered with the massive VR developer DeePoon  to set up the highly exciting  Global VR Gaming Challenge. As the name suggests, this is an international VR competition that aims to find the very best games currently in development across the world to help bring them greater exposure in China, the world's current biggest VR market.

Participating developers could win $35,000, VR hardware, or a paid trip to ChinaJoy, the biggest games show in China which is due to be held in Shanghai this July.

To qualify, your game must fall in line with the following guidelines:

  • This competition is open to all independent developers.
  • Any submitted game / concept must be suitable for mobile VR.
  • Any submitted game / concept must be unreleased prior to 6th July 2016.
  • Entrants will need to have at least one member of their team with a valid passport and able to travel to China on July 25th-30th.

For more information regarding these rules, check out the full terms and conditions.

To enter, all you have to do is submit a single page description of your game, along with any artwork or footage on the  official Global VR Gaming Challenge site.

For a simple breakdown of how it will pan out, successful entrants will be longlisted in June, shortlisted in July, and the winner will be announced in Shangai at this year's ChinaJoy. You can find out much more details on the timeline.

With this competition, Steel media and DeePoon wish to help the development of new VR concepts and simultaneously strengthen the relationship between China and the rest of the world within the video game industry.
