Today, developer Devsisters has launched the latest title in their Cookie Run series. It's called Cookie Run: Kingdom and is a base-building RPG where you'll do battle against other players once you've created your delicious realms.
The aim is to out-bake your opposition and to do so, you can enlist the help of over 100 Cookies that will be obtained through the gacha methods we've all become familiar with in free-to-play mobile games. The game will take place over 200 levels where you'll battle for the kingdom. The characters will be a mixture of those you'll be familiar with from across the series, bringing them all into one place whilst introducing new faces too.
Despite the free-to-play trappings, Cookie Run: Kingdom promises to deliver the deeper storyline that has been woven into the series in the likes of OvenBreak (2009) and Cookie Run: OvenBreak (2016). It would make sense to keep this approach since the game has racked up over 100 million downloads worldwide.
Discussing the game, Kim Jongheun, co-chief executive, Devsisters said: “In the 4 years of developing this game, bringing a “next-level” visual experience was our highest priority: Players feel like they’re in a movie far apart.”
They added: “We’ve also greatly enhanced the way our players experience the familiar characters they’ve grown to love from Cookie Run: OvenBreak. In Kingdom, players are creators - choosing Cookies with special powers, building teams, and being part of a mission worth fighting for.”
