Do you remember all those fights during Monopoly over who gets to be the dog? Well, Scopely is trying to turn that into an all-out war by adding a plethora of animal choices to Monopoly Go. However, it is for a good cause, so I suppose we can forgive them.

The battles will be worth it as the Play with Purpose global community challenge is shining a light on the work done by the ASPCA and the RSPCA. You would think everyone with at least a single brain cell would know you shouldn't harm animals, but evidently there are still some sociopaths out there.

At least the message is being spread in a fun way.

You can help support the good works done by these two groups simply by playing. The challenge of the Pets Seasons, lasting until March 5th, is for all players, or Tycoons, to collectively pass GO more than 5 million times. This will then unlock donations for the RSPCA in Great Britain and the ASPCA in the United States. Everyone who passes GO at least once during this time will also receive a cat-themed shield.

So, who will be joining the race to capitalism? Well, the star of the show is Scottie, Mr Monopoly’s feline friend, and the piece that we all battled over as children. Also joining are Duke, a cat who looks strangely familiar, and Pip, a parrot. You can also duke it out on new boards, such as St Tropetz and Dogopolis, where I would move in a heartbeat.

Finally, you can hunt down the first community sticker set thanks to Pets Season. Fans sent in pictures of over 12,000 real-life pets, of which nine have been turned into stickers to collect. These include Bryan, a white-crested duck, and Stella, a chinchilla. Who else wants to go out and adopt a duck now?

Monopoly Go is available from the App Store and Google Play.
