Monopoly Go collaborates with one of the most famous wizards in all of fiction

Let’s take a moment and put aside our feelings about the creator, valid though they may be; Harry Potter is unquestionably a phenomenon. From books to games to, of course, movies, it is a culture-defining franchise. So, what happens if it joins forces with another entertainment juggernaut, say, Monopoly Go? 

My phone has yet to explode from the sheer force of the combined might, so we shall soldier on, because yes, the wizarding world will come to Monopoly Go starting December 10th.

For starters, we are getting a themed board, which is the least you would expect. 

The likes of Diagon Alley and, of course, Hogwarts Castle will be stops on your journey, as will a holiday-themed Hogsmeade Village. Just remember to have your permission slips signed. Complete the Seasonal Map, and you will unlock House Shields to show off your wizarding allegiance. Ravenclaw is the correct choice, but I will allow a Hufflepuff or two.

If you get bored with going round and round a board, then head to Blocks Boutiques and stock shelves instead! You will place iconic sweets from the series, and clearing two rows of blocks will net you your prizes.

There is also a Sticker Album of 23 Harry Potter icons to collect that will unveil stories, such as a movie marathon at Mr Monopoly's, or a look at He Who Must Not Be Named. Also known as Voldemort, Voldemort, oh, Voldy. Voldy, Voldy, Voldemort. I am showing my age with that reference.

There is also the likes of Quidditch races, an upgradable board that illustrates moments through the movies, and the chance to collect treasure, including the Philosopher’s Stone. Don’t bring that Sorcerer's Stone nonsense this way.

The Harry Potter collaboration will kick off on December 10th and last until February 4th, but there is a lot to collect, so download Monopoly Go from the App Store and Google Play to start your dragon's hoard.
