Do you remember the first game Hideo Kojima made when he left Konami, when he had no one to stop him from going completely weird? Death Stranding, when you were a post-apocalyptic delivery boy, a job that is looking more and more relevant these days. Well, soon you can train to be a courier like Sam, with the announcement of a new mobile game. Maybe.

This is a Kojima Productions project, don’t forget, so of course, we won’t get the full story right away. It was revealed at Beyond the Strand, an event to celebrate 10 years of the studio. If you watch the livestream when this came up, around 2 hours 26 minutes in, they seem to even avoid a name. The trailer is titled A New Dawn, but that literally just might be the trailer's name.

For some more concrete information, Kojima was joined on stage by John Hanke, CEO of Niantic Spatial. So obviously, it is going to be heavy on the Geospatial stuff, like Pokémon Go, but less action. The trailer suggests it is going to be more of an experience than a game. When you use it, your environment will morph, or you will see new objects, like flowers.

I don’t want to necessarily say boring, but I vastly prefer my idea when I first heard of the project. I wanted you to be carrying cargo from A to B, and then if you dropped it, your phone haptics would go haywire and your phone would leap out of your hands.

Funny, if you saw it happen to someone else.

It is safe to assume at this point that this will be a storytelling tool more than anything, and that doesn’t sound too bad, I suppose. Kojima is very creative, so at least we wouldn’t run out of tales fast. It is still early days, however, so it will be interesting to see where this road leads.
