I am a huge fan of MMORPGs, but the problem is, whenever I play one, I can’t stop thinking, “Final Fantasy XIV does this better”. With Crystal of Atlan, though, that was not my opinion when I tried the PvP. I can’t wait to get into that when it launches this month, and even better, the developers have announced it will be coming with extra goodies.

When I wrote about my time playing Atlan over on Pocket Gamer, I heaped a lot of praise on the class system, and happily, we are getting one more at launch. If you are the type to see a hulking great enemy and say, "Keep your swords, I’m punching it in the face," then the Fighter Class is for you.

As with every class, the Fighter comes with two advanced options: the Starbreaker and the Cloudstrider. Unfortunately, they both look amazing, so good luck choosing. The Starbreaker wears mechanised gaunlets to add some more propelled punch to your punch, whereas the Cloudstrider seems to fight with the help of two spirits. Sadly, the trailer focused more on Starbreaker, so we don’t see much of their skills.

Nuverse Games are looking to make a lot of noise when Atlan releases, and have teamed up with esports organisation Team Liquid for launch events. This includes members of the Liquid Guild, the winners of the World of Warcraft Race to World First. They will be hosting live streams of dungeon challenges, plus a host of interactive activities, with an official schedule to follow.

The Adventures Assemble Event will also be available, offering rewards for players who create or join Fleets and tackle challenges together. It is a nice way to foster a cooperative spirit right out of the gate. Speaking of, that gate will be opening May 28th for Android and iOS, which gives you a month to enjoy before Persona 5: The Phantom X steals all of our spare time.
