vCarrot is an interesting looking app that's meant to incentivize kids with their reading. And seeing as school is going to start back up soon and there's a good chance they've been putting it off, now is probably a good time for it to exist.

The basic idea is that parents can create a sort of reading assignment for their child, complete with the offer of an e-gift card as a reward. Parents can also set how often reminders for the assignment will pop up, and kids will have to complete a quiz once they're finished to prove that they've read the book (so no cheating).

It won't help you actually find the books they need to read, but vCarrot seems like a clever way to get them to actually read what they're supposed to.
