If there’s one common thread among all DJ apps, it’s that they frequently try to emulate the classic turntable mechanic of track mixing. In an era of digital audio, this seems a wee bit outdated. So, in the tradition of so many informercials, I exclaim: “There’s got to be a better way!” Touch DJ Evolution is then the product that tries to improve on this first world problem. The app features a different method of track mixing, allowing users to mix two tracks through an entirely visual interface. The app features a one-touch track synchronization feature, and the ability to easily adjust the tempo of tracks with “Master Tempo technology.” The idea is to make mixing easier and more accessible than with traditional DJ software. The app is free to download, with a variety of in-app purchases for additional features, like importing music from the iPod library. The app can be wholly unlocked for all present and future features for $9.99.
