Some of the games that we were looking forward to this week have really left us disappointed. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, we're looking at you. But that doesn't mean there aren't some great new additions to the App Store. And it doesn't mean we're not going to do you a round up for you our fearless readers either.

There's almost something for everyone, and we've included download links so you can hop straight over to the App Store and grab them without any hesitation. And if you think we've missed anything out, chuck your own suggestions in the comments at the bottom of the article.

Major Mayhem 2 - download for iOS

A superb cover-shooter sequel that sees you blasting your way through a tongue-in-cheek army in order to save the world and your vacation. It might sit in the midcore range, but there's a decent challenge here all the same. The action is fast and furious, the humor is spot on, and you're going to be happy dipping in and out of this one for the next few weeks.

Supertype - download for iOS

When is a word game not a word game? When it's a letter game. This one's all about typing out letters so that they fall or bounce and hit some markers. It's a really interesting mix of physics, shapes, typing, and thinking. It's got a lovely look all of its own as well. Even if you're not a fan of words, it's worth checking out.

Lightslinger Heroes - download for iOS

Oh no, you might be thinking, another match-stuff RPG. But this one shakes things up a bit by using Puzzle Bobble as a template instead. So you're bouncing orbs around the screen to attack monsters. There's more to it than that, and while it might not change your opinion of the genre, if you're a fan it'll be a breath of fresh air.

Corennity - download for iOS

Essentially this one's an auto-runner, but it's got a deep sci-fi theme and some interesting ideas. So you're not just racing around, you're blasting out lasers as well. It's not super polished, but there's a whole bunch of fast-reaction fun to be had here that make the game well worth checking out.

Still Here... Flight Adventure - download for iOS

The human race has gone, but we're not sure why. That's sort of the story of this gorgeous looking mix of a platformer and puzzle game. It's definitely one of the most impressive games this week, and it sees you flying through a series of cartoon environments to get answers to some of the deep questions of life.

Paladins Strike - download for iOS

A mix between a MOBA and a top-down shooter that's set in the Paladins universe. It's free to play, wonderfully polished, and there are 20 different characters to unlock. There's a whole bunch of different modes to try out, so this is definitely the sort of game that you're going to spend hours discovering every aspect of.

My Singing Monsters Composer - download for iOS

This one is partly a music game, and partly a way of learning how to compose. It's really well put together, so it never feels like you're being taught, just that you're having fun. It's not the cheapest game out this week, but there's a whole bunch going on, and if you've got any interest in music then you should definitely pick it up.
