Stitcher has been a fixture in the podcasting space for quite some time, but to put it quite bluntly, their iPad app had been leaving users with something to be desired. Essentially the app was just a blown up version of the iPhone software, doing absolutely nothing to take advantage of the extra real estate that the tablet format allowed.
Luckily, this is now a thing of the past, as the company has announced that there is a new universal extension to the Stitcher tool, that is custom re-built and re-designed from the ground up, to cater to their ever growing iPad consumer base. Here are some of the new features that just debuted:
- What’s Hot: Listeners can follow the shows that are trending on Stitcher at any moment.
- Featured/New Shows: Listeners can discover shows related to current interests or popular culture events.
- Featured Lists: Listeners can see what celebrities – as well as the Stitcher community — are listening to with the new “What’s on your Stitcher?” featured playlist.
On top of all of these outstanding improvements, the homepage of the app itself has been re-engineered into a radio news-magazine of sorts, meant to deliver breaking new content that is bound to interest listeners. Don’t expect to be bombarded with just news, though, because the content suggested will be based off of your previous preferences and subscribed podcasts.
As always, the app will remain free, while bringing you some of the best audio content that the internet has to offer. I would highly recommend giving this a download, and seeing if it helps to expand your podcasting horizons. After all, there is no such thing as too much of a good thing, right? Be sure to give it a try and let us know what your thoughts are in the comments below. Happy listening!
