Stardunk Is Becoming Free... Sort Of

Stardunk is a pretty amazing little game that was the first, to my knowledge, to get massively multiplayer right. The game seamlessly allowed for 10 people to play against each other at once with no noticeable lag of any kind. Categorizing Stardunk though is a bit tough. Is it a basketball game? Is it a physics game? All I know is that it is fun.

The problem with the whole Stardunk concept is that it requires a ton of people to participate in order for the game to work as intended. That's not saying that it isn't fun on its own, but the true potential is only unlocked when you have games going with 10 people playing at once. Unfortunately the sales haven't been quite as astounding as Godzilab would've hoped (piracy has also been an issue), so they are looking at a new model to suck people in.

Starting this Saturday, Sep. 25, Godzilab is switching Stardunk to a free demo model, meaning that the game is free, but after your tenth game you must purchase the rest via in-app purchase. This new model will hopefully get more people to try the game out (and hopefully purchase), allowing for a much more exciting experience.

For those of you who already have the game but have put it away for whatever reason, there are a few new things to sweeten of the pot. In addition to new game themes, new balls, and new stats, Stardunk now has its leaderboards on Game Center.

If you haven't tried Stardunk yet, now's the best time to do so. It's hard to beat free.
