President Obama Joins Instagram

With the campaign for the 2012 Presidential Election in full swing, Republican candidates and President Obama are beginning to employ any and all media outlets to reach their audiences. Keeping up with that trend, President Obama has recently joined Instagram to be able to give the country a better look into his day-to-day life and into his campaign trail. The President will be posting pictures through Twitter using his @barackobama Instagram account, states a post directly from the Instagram blog.

The post also states that the President is encouraging his supporters to share what they are doing to show their support by posting pictures of their efforts as they campaign. I follow President Obama on Twitter so I’m very interested to see how he, as well as the Republican candidates are going to be using their Instagram accounts.

With the rise and popularity of apps like Instagram this year, this election is proving to be very unique as political figures adapt to reach their supporters through new forms of media. Be sure to keep an eye out out for other unique campaign methods from all the presidential candidates as we get closer to election time.
