The folks behind Pokémon GO have some exciting things planned for their Halloween celebration, the first in-game event since it launched back in July. Starting October 26 and ending on November 1, trainers will be running into large numbers of spooky Pokémon while Candy will be extra bountiful. Let's check out the details.

Ghostly pokémon like Ghastly, Haunter, and Gengar will appear much more frequently, along with Drowzee, Hypno, Zubat, and Golbat. Depending on where you live, this is a great opportunity to catch and evolve pokémon you might not see very often.

Even if you're already inundated with the aforementioned spooky pokémon, the Halloween event will still be an ideal chance to get out and catch some more pocket monsters. For every new pokémon you catch, you'll get six Candies, which is a sweet deal in every sense of the term. The professor will give you one extra Candy for each pokémon you transfer to him, and Buddy pokémon will reward you with four Candies rather than one.

What's so special about all of this extra candy? Well, it's a rare chance to head out and work on evolving rarer pokémon you've been meaning to add to your Pokédex. With candy essentially flowing in the streets it'll be a lot easier to progress in Pokémon GO for a short period of time.

While Pokémon GO has been shedding players, this Halloween celebration could see a resurgence in the player base. This is likely to be one of many more community events Niantic has planned for Pokémon GO, judging by the wealth of sister-app Ingress's planned events.
