Thursday is the day when most of the new releases come out on the App Store. It's also the day when we pick what we think are the best five games that have come out over the last seven days. Then we pose you, our readers, a simple question - which is best?

There's one game on the list that probably stands above all the others in terms of how excited people are to play it, but if we've learned anything from these articles, it's that excitement isn't always a good marker of what game is going to walk away from the vote victorious.

You're probably wondering how you vote now. Well, it couldn't be easier. You can leave a comment at the bottom of the article with your choice. Or contact us on Twitter with the hashtage #148GOW with your pick. If that's not enough, you can even leave us a comment on our Facebook page to let us know.

If you're wondering what won last week's game of the week award, you can find that out by clicking right here. Right then, on with the shortlist.

Reigns: Game of Thrones - download for iOS

Two really interesting modern phenomena meet head-on, and the result is something that's likely to please mobile gaming fans as well as devotees of the HBO series. The game's all about making difficult choices, and trying to stay alive for as long as you can.

Why we think you'll like it: This isn't just a reskinning of Reigns, it's a whole new game with a whole new set of choices to make. It throws a load of new ideas into the mix as well, so even if you've rinsed the first two Reigns games, you're going to find something new and exciting here.

Max: The Curse of Brotherhood - download for iOS

The first Max game to come out for mobile was a slick and interesting creative platformer. It looks like this game intends to follow in the same footsteps. It's a far more polished experience though, and it's got a whole bunch of new twists to throw into the mix.

Why we think you'll like it: Well, if you loved the first Max game, this one's more of the same. You're leaping around cleverly designed levels, using a special pen to aid you. You can create and destroy platforms, and the deeper you get into the experience, the more new skills you're going to unlock.

Pivotol - download for iOS

It's been a while since Radiangames released anything, so it's good to see that it's getting back into the swing of things with Pivotol. It's the second style of game that Radian is famous for - or, in other words, it's not a shooter, it's a match-stuff puzzler with neon-tinged graphics.

Why we think you'll like it: This is by no-means a generic match-stuff puzzler. Instead of swapping coloured blobs around, here you can only move shapes around pivot points. That means if you move one, you're going to move four. It takes a while to get used to, but once it clicks you're going to have a whale of a time.

Sector. - download for iOS

There was a time when twitchy games dominated the App Store, but it feels a bit like the genre has fallen from favor in the last couple of years. Sector hopes to right that with its super fast, reaction-testing gameplay.

Why we think you'll like it: If you're a fan of the likes of Super Hexagon then there's definitely going to be something here for you. It's not as sharp as that classic though, which means new or inexperienced players will also be able to play. Just get ready for frustration when you make a mistake.

F1 Mobile Racing - download for iOS

Usually F1 games on mobile follow a very strict template. They err towards the simulation side of the gaming spectrum, offering players the chance to stride into a car they could never hope to afford. F1 Mobile, on the other hand, is a little different.

Why we think you'll like it: Rather than giving you a whole season to work through, F1 Mobile takes things a lap at a time. Duels are the order of the day here, and they're against real-life players too. Don't think it dumbs down the experience though. If you want your one lap races to be free of any of the assists the game adds, you're more than welcome. That adaptable level of challenge, and the short play times of the game, means there's something for everyone here.
