In the most shocking app story every, iChatr, the Chat Roulette clone for the iPhone 4 that we told you about last week has been removed from the App Store due to reports of some people exposing themselves! Shocking! Unheard of! What has this world come to?
Ok, all sarcasm aside. Um, er, watching people, particularly men, do certain things to themselves is the main reason people use Chat Roulette. As a matter of fact, I think it’s the only reason. The revelation that people are doing the exact same thing in iChatr is no revelation at all. It’s completely anonymous and that makes people think that they can do anything they want.
SKJM, developers of iChatr had very little to say on the subject — “The iChatr application has currently been removed from the App Store due to reports of a number of users exposing themselves during the random video chat sessions. We are currently discussing possible solutions to the problem with Apple.” Yeah, good luck with getting Apple to OK it again.
That the nudity police at Apple have pulled this app is also no surprise at all. I don’t expect that we’ll see it back in the store. And for those multitudes of others that are working on similar apps, you might as well stop now unless you have some wicked automatic genital recognition technology built in.

Bloody shame. Bar the very few saddos I've encountered on ichatr (with their bits out) it's really good fun. Do apple now see themselves as censors of the world?! Idiots.
Sorry. Yes they do. Stupid question.
OMFG that's me in that picture!!!! WTF!!! I'm on the right and my friend is on the left.. How did they get that? I doubt that guy wrote the article, he was whipping his junk out… WTF how did they get a screenshot of us!!!!!!! Omg that's so creepy hahaha
Btw, do the people that already have the app still get to use it? Or are they shutting it down? And I think that it's a great entertaining app, even if there is a lot of penis. And to the author of this article, how the hell did you get a screenshot of me? Do other people watch the chat sessions? Because the guy in the photo whipped out his junk, I remember cuz my friend madalyn screamed holy s*** lmao…
I got a node picture in my inbox.
Plz Apple, remove the emal application from iphones….
Apple is the most stupid company i know….
We can't say that we were surprised by this either, unfortunately. Apple's made it clear that they don't treat their users like adults and aren't okay with “profane” content (unless, of course, you're creating it using their own technology, in which case it appears to be fine…).As you mention, it's a pretty well established fact that ChatRoulette is full of risque user behavior and things that might be more appropriate for a solely adult audience. As the only app store for adults, we at MiKandi are watching this with interest and hope that the iChatr app can be reconstituted in some form for the Android device – we'd love to have it in our store (http://www.mikandi.com) and are sure that our users will find it as interesting as the millions of web users who have already discovered it.
