There are plenty of games out there in the App Store that have you shooting animals with guns, rifles, and tanks (?), but Myth Photo may be the first to have you hunting them with the Sierra Club special, a camera.
Myth Photo is a photo hunting game that has you going around the forest armed with a camera and a healthy appetite to take pictures of unique animals. Most of the animals that you find are typical forest animals, but you get special bonus points for capturing the elusive ones, such as Bigfoot and Nessie.
Instead of just basic pixel hunting, like so many other animal hunting games have you do, Myth Photo puts you in charge of your movement, the zoom, and the focus. You’ll definitely have to work a bit harder than the average hunting game to get a clear image, but once you get something unique it seems all worth it.
As you progress through the game collecting stars for all the clear images you’ve taken, you get to upgrade your gear so you can take even better pictures. I know, upgrading your camera doesn’t sound as fun as upgrading a BFG 9000, but we’re not hunting aliens here. Except Bigfoot – he might be an alien.
Hunting games on the iPhone are typically droll experiences, so get out and play something different. Instead of killing the animals, why not capture them on film?
