Last month, Square Enix released Final Fantasy III for the iPhone and iPod Touch to much fan excitement. However, as awesome as having Final Fantasy III on both devices is, something was sorely missing: an iPad version.

This week that changes. The publisher has announced that an iPad version of Final Fantasy III is now available on the iTunes App Store.

The iPad version of the game features improved 3D visuals and the touch screen controls have been adjusted specifically for the iPad.

Final Fantasy III first released on the Famicom in 1990. The RPG was well-received by gamers, introducing a job system that allows you to change classes at anytime along the adventure. It also introduced the idea of being able to summon creatures, a mechanic that would go on to influence the design of future installments in the series.

Today, many consider Final Fantasy III to be one of the greatest RPGs of all time.

You can find the iPad version of Final Fantasy III on the iTunes App Store and download it for $16.99.
