Kairosoft has returned with another wonderful sim game—Dream Town Story. It's a pretty little pixelated adventure with great attention to detail and hours worth of content. You'll be able to control every facet of your fledgling city.

With that said, there are a few things to pay attention to starting out to ensure your success. Here are a few tips to help your town get started off right.

Create a character that knows how to work

Having a high work stat is crucial to removing debris from your city, allowing you to build more, faster. When creating your character, make sure that have 10 points put into the Work stat at least. Don't worry if you've already started and don't have the recommended stats—you can still build up to it by building new businesses.

Combos are key

You can increase your land value, and in turn earn a lot more money, by creating building combos. These are generally three buildings built within range of each other. If you're particularly good at city-planning, you'll have the foresight to ensure there's room to fill your city with the combos, maximizing your earning potential.

Gain more land

You can expand your city with some gold and a little know-how. Before you can purchase new patches of land, the game likes to test you a little bit. You'll have to pay a little bit of the game's in-game (non-premium) currency, and complete a challenge, like completing a certain number of buildings in a few months' time. If you fail, you'll lose any of the buildings you constructed on the new plot of land, and you'll have to pay to try again.

It's not a huge problem if you lose, but it's always better to go in with a bit of preparation. Understand what you're capable of with your current property, and you should be able to judge whether you'll succeed at the expansion challenge or not.

Improve your rank

To expand your population and make more money, you'll need to raise your town's rank. To do that, you'll need trophies. And to get trophies, well, you'll have to complete a few challenges. You can see the trophies and their associated challenges by tapping on the "Trophies" icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
