Winter comes to Darkwood as Seekers Notes: Hidden Mystery receives Christmas update

Posted by 148Apps Staff on December 8th, 2016
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

MyTona, based in the chilly Siberian city of Yakutsk, has brought a little festive fun to its hidden object game Seekers Notes: Hidden Mystery. The Christmas update introduces some new inhabitants to players, and with them a chance to win plenty of bonus items.

Gameplay for Seekers Notes follows the tried and tested formula of hidden object games – you investigate locations for clues in order to solve mysteries. This time, the location is Darkwood, a charming city beset by a strange curse. You navigate around 28 detailed areas, talking to the locals and spotting objects to solve puzzles, all with a view to lifting the spell. You’re against the clock, so you have to work fast to spot everything you need in each location.

There are an impressive 1200 quests to tackle, and 222 collections to find. If you end up befuddled by a particular puzzle, ask a friend via social media to help. Fellow ‘seekers’ can leave help including items in your game to give you a hand, and by doing so boost your research reward once you solve the puzzle.

The Christmas update has given a seasonal makeover to Darkwood, with festive decorations now adorning the quaint corners and charming buildings of the city. But there are also some new characters that have migrated here for the winter, including Sir Tubby the evil snowman and the Ice Queen. You can banish these unpleasant characters and by doing so win items including fixers (used to combine your collections), candy, toys and other seasonal bonuses. The characters will be gone as soon as the event is over and the snow has all gone, so be quick!

Seekers Notes: Hidden Mystery is free to download from the App Store, Google Play, Windows Store, and Amazon Appstore.

Riding on its unending wave of fame and success, Clash of Clans is getting an animated web series based on its Clash-A-Rama animated shorts. As opposed to the current shorts' 60 second run time, the new and improved Clash-A-Rama will be comprised of "full episodes", although we don't really know how long those could actually be. The show will feature characters old and new on a spate of silly adventures. Unlike some mobile franchises, Clash of Clans' first forays into trans-media looks to be . . . actually good.

Leaked images from a hub for Starbucks employees suggests that a big Pokémon GO event with the coffee giant could begin this very week. The images appeared on Reddit and hint at some exciting new things to come for Niantic's smash hit game.

The event coincides with a potential Pokémon GO update on Thursday. Many suspect that this latest change to the game will finally introduce Generation II Pokémon -- the beasts that were originally catchable in Pokémon Gold and Silver. The leaked image states, "The world of Pokémon GO is about to expand with new Pokémon and a new Starbucks beverage!"

Many Starbucks locations are expected to transform into Pokécenters and gyms, and an exclusive Pokémon GO Frappucino will be available for purchase for thirsty trainers. Starbucks is prepping for an increase in traffic to many of their stores. The employee memo notes that Starbucks baristas should familiarize themselves with the beverage, practice making it, and try it themselves before the event goes live on December 8.

While we can't say for sure if new Pokémon will be roaming around Starbucks locations this Thursday, it does look like Niantic and Starbucks have something exciting up their sleeves, and it could be as good a time as any to take a walk to your local store.
