Aemeath and Luuk Herssen aren't enough to cover fans' disappointment for Wuthering Waves 3.1
Get a better device, Kuro said.
Two gorgeous characters are coming in Wuthering Waves 3.1, but instead of getting hyped over the next version, the fanbase is unhappy with Kuro Games, and many may stop playing, either voluntarily or involuntarily.
The first issue is that Wuthering Waves has grown so large that it takes up too much space, especially for mobile players. With each new map, the size continues to increase, and players are blaming Kuro's lack of optimization for the massive file size.
Other than storage issues, the poor optimization is also linked repeatedly to the players' complaints about overheating devices and battery draining.
For this update alone, mobile players have to spare 18GB of their storage. They even need to have ~70GB of free space, as the decompression will take ~60GB of space.
Even if it's temporary, many players can't afford to have this much space on their mobile, forcing them to stop playing as they won't be able to hold the upcoming patch.
Of course, this is no better for PC players, as version 3.1 will add 35GB to the file size, for a total of ~150GB only for WuWa.
Poor optimization isn't the only thing driving players away
Wuthering Waves 3.1 promises a ton of new content, but it's not enough to cover the disappointment for the upcoming Moonlit Path, a "Spending event."Now, it's common for a game to reward its spenders. After all, they need to make money, and whales are the main source of income. However, what causes the issue is the new item Kuro introduces, the Transducer.
The Transducer can reroll a substat of an Echo while maintaining locked stats. So if you have a great Echo, let's say, with Crit Rate, Crit DMG, ATK, HP, and DEF stat, you can lock the first three, and reroll the other two sub-stats for a chance of having the perfect Echo. It's also helpful when you get the correct main stat, but all the sub-stats are useless.
It's an amazing item that players have constantly asked for, yet it's not accessible for most people.
You can get the Transducer by either purchasing a Weekly Subscription or participating in the Moonlit Path. The item will also be present in the Item Exchange Section, so it's available for F2P players, but it's still not affordable.
You can get 2 Transducers for 30 Afterglow Coral each. Afterward, the price increases to 60 Afterglow Coral, and you can get up to 99 Transducers with this price.
Since 8 Afterglow Corals are worth 1 pull, 30 Corals are almost 4 pulls. For F2P players, every pull counts, so it's not ideal to spend it on Transducers.
Afterglow Corals also aren't that easy to get, as you only get 3 Corals if you get a 4-star character or weapon, and 8 Corals if you get a maxed-out 4-star Resonator. Since you're guaranteed a 4-star in every 10 pulls, you basically have to spend around 40 pulls only to get 1 Transducer. And this is assuming your 4-stars are already maxed.
On the good side, WuWa 3.1 does promise some freebies, like:
- 1600 Astrite from the Unsigned Good Wishes sign-in event
- An outfit for Rover
- A new Starpaths Intertwined event that can give up to 10 Lustrous and 10 Radiant Tides
- Gifts of Soft Snow sign-in event that gives 5 Lustrous Rides and 5 Radiant Tides
Wuthering Waves Version 3.1 update is coming on February 4, 2026, or February 5, 2026, depending on where you are in the world.
