The best iPad mini keyboard case I've ever tried. There are still problems, but this case gets so many things right they are easy to ignore.

Bottom Line: The best iPad mini keyboard case I've ever tried. There are still problems, but this case gets so many things right they are easy to ignore. Highly Recommended.

iPad mini keyboard cases are a curious thing. For one, they're so freaking small why would anyone use them? But on the other hand, they're so freaking useful why would anyone not want to use them?

The ZaggKeys Cover for the iPad mini gets so many things right that I've seen done wrong in other cases, I easily give it my personal pick for best iPad mini keyboard case. Here are some of the things this keyboard case does right: First up, a solid, well-build hinge that holds the iPad mini well in it's grip. This hinge easily moves to set the proper angle. The iPad mini can also be put in backwards to allow use of the mini while closed. With other cases, use it like this and we're left with two unconnected pieces that become hard to hold.

They keys themselves are backlit (huge thumbs up), and have a good feel and travel. There are the usual contingent of useful iOS shortcut keys for functions like Home, Siri, Play, and Volume controls across the top. One of the few things I don't like about the layout is a small key with 4 functions for -, _, =, and +. To type all four the shift and/or Fn key needs to be used. Not immediately obvious, but I found it usable once discovered. The inclusion of the inverted T for arrow keys is fantastic. The keyboard does add bulk when carrying the iPad, but every keyboard will. This one adds less than expected, especially considering the amount of magnets and wizardry in the hinge.

After a few thousand words typed on this thing, I give it a big thumbs up. For longer typing sessions I think I will likely stick with the Bluetooth Apple Keyboard, but this one is easier to carry and way more convenient.

Highly Recommended.
