[Having trouble nabbing high scores? Can't quite remember what each of the marbles does? Have a glance at our Riff the Robot beginner's guide.]
Riffing on Peggle (see what I did there?), Riff the Robot takes what worked so well back then and throws in a few quirks of its own, ensuring it’s quite a fun little Pinball-esque game. Its energy meter could be a little more generous, but you’re likely to be willing to wait it out.
Each level looks a lot like Peggle with your aim being to fling Riff the robot up through the air, taking out the various marbles around him. You use a catapult to propel him but it’s not just a matter of sitting back and watching things unfold. Riff has thrusters that you can activate by tapping left or right on the screen, thereby allowing you to send him in different directions. It’s a fun mechanic that ensures you feel regularly involved and in control.
The only place where Riff the Robot is a slight letdown is with its energy system. It takes a while for things to recharge, although you can earn coins to buy refreshes. You can watch adverts too, but this option expires if you use it too often. It doesn't take much to burn through a lot of lives when you get to some of the harder levels. Despite that, Riff the Robot is still pretty fun and an amusing way to waste some time.
