Confidence - The Game Review

Trivia games are addictive. At least they are for me. It's impossible to resist answering just a couple more questions in order to know that you're better than the AI or the friend you're playing against. Confidence - The Game certainly offers plenty of categories and some great imagination, but I was a little disappointed to see questions repeating themselves after a time.

The main variation within Confidence and the reason why it's titled as such is its ability to rank categories depending on how well you think you'll do. It's a neat touch as you gain more points for categories that you're most experienced at, all adding a slight strategic touch to proceedings. With two typical rounds of play, the final round then enables players to wager points on one single question.

Categories are certainly varied. In my time of playing, I encountered everything from College Football, English History, Technology, Games to more specialist subjects such as Entourage and Bond Theme Songs. Questions are biased towards the American market so my British brain struggled on a few - perhaps an ideal opportunity for a future question pack for the Brits and European players - but they're a good solid mix to cover all interests.

The free version of Confidence includes 600 questions across 90 different categories with the option to download additional question packs priced at $1.99 for 650 questions or $2.99 for 2,000 questions. Even after downloading the larger of the two packs, I found questions being repeated every now and then which was a shame as otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed Confidence. Playing alone, using one of the four difficulty levels, provides a decent challenge and playing against other people via passing the iOS device back and forth is simple and effective.

If it wasn't for pesky questions being repeated, Confidence would be my new favourite trivia game. As it stands, it's still in my top three as I love the variety of the categories. Being asked questions on Sea Life and Disney films in the same game certainly keeps you on your toes! For the price (or lack of it if you don't buy the extra question packs), it's hard to say no to, especially if you want a game to play with friends and family.
