Version 2.0 of Wuthering Waves brings a new region and massively expanded features

Wuthering Waves is here to make our New Year a very joyous one indeed with the arrival of Version 2.0, dubbed All Silent Souls Can Sing. This massive new update also coincides with the game's PlayStation 5 launch, and it is incredibly easy to set up your existing account. I did it immediately.

You will travel to the beautiful new nation of Rinascita, where Echoes live harmoniously with humans. They even function as vehicles here. To celebrate their Sentinel, the people used to host Carnevale, a festival of music, art, and joy. It has been dormant for a while, but the people are clamouring for it once more, and you arrive just at the right time.

There is a lot to encounter in this land, including 40 new species of echoes, with 25 of these being recruitable. New mini-games have been released with Plushie Punch and a Clear Cloud Echo Challenge. You can even transform into the Cuddle Wuddle Echo for some leaping. Of course, there is also a mind-blowingly excellent new friend to recruit.

Carlotta is a Glacio Five-Star who packs quite the flashy, but incredibly effective, kit. Unleashing a barrage of bullets will charge her Forte Circuit, resulting in quite a powerful blow. Her Resonance Skill immobilises foes, before teleporting to them and jumping off them for a stylish and devastating blow. Finally, her Resonance Liberation summons a huge gun dealing four insane attacks, topped off by an almighty blast obliterating everyone.

Whilst her banner offers a solid Four-Star Glacio Sub-DPS with Sanhua, you could also try to pull for the returning Zhezhi. Also a Five-Star Glacio character, she is slightly more complex in that you need to learn to master her summonable Phantasmic Imprints. It’s worth it though, as she buffs the next character Glacio and Resonance Skill Damage. Her Resonance Liberation will also see Inklit Spirit spawn whenever any character deals damage, who will also attack, leading to a wild amount of damage.

In addition to all of this, Rinascita introduces the ability to fly, making exploration a breeze. There is also the ability to switch genders to the other protagonist once a day, a portable synthesizer, and a new feature to change characters' costumes. Right now the options are a peach blossom outfit for Jinhsi, and Sanhua can sport an exorcistic adjuration.

Wuthering Waves is available to download from the App Store and Google Play. If you want to skip right to the new story you can with a Main Story skip function, but you would be missing out on so much amazing gameplay.
