Don't Starve is one of the games that put the survival genre on the map. This artful little indie casts you as a lost German scientist is a strange, unknown world. You'll have to craft to survive and uncover the mysteries of your new alien home.

Last Day on Earth: Zombie Survival

Last Day on Earth manages to bring PC-esque survival stylings to mobile in a near flawless fashion. Build up a base and collect the supplies you need to withstand the zombie apocalypse. There's lots of crafting to be had here, and the game controls beautifully, too.

Radiation Island drops on you on, well, an island following the nuclear holocaust. Everything is out to kill you, so you'll need some real cunning if you want to survive. The island itself is full of diverse environments full of crafting supplies, but you'll have to be careful not to be attacked by vicious animals or wander into pockets of radiation.
