Her Story developer Sam Barlow is hard at work on his next project. Barlow is teaming up with publisher Annapurna Interactive for his latest, another FMV game titled Telling Lies. He's currently working on the script for the game, and with his new partnership with Annapurna, hopes to cast Hollywood talent for this new project.

Rather than a straight up sequel, Telling Lies is more of a "spiritual successor" to Her Story. The game has an entirely new story and characters. Barlow told Variety that the game draws inspiration from Francis Ford Coppola's thriller The Conversation and Steve McQueen's Shame.

Annapurna Interactive, who's portfolio includes What Remains of Edith Finch, will be handling all of the film production this time around, from the shoot itself to post-production. Speaking to his recent partnership with the publishing company, Barlow said, "When I started speaking with Annapurna, they had plans to move into the video game space in a similar way they’ve done with film – to empower creatives with a unique voice."

Barlow's first game, Her Story, was an FMV crime drama that won heaps of praise when it was released, and was an indie success, selling over 100,000 copies.

There's no word on a release date yet for Telling Lies, but don't get too antsy. Barlow doesn't expect to start filming the game until the end of 2017 or early 2018.
