Season 3 of Monster Hunter Now brings with it a new weapon and a series staple mechanic
Since release, Monster Hunter Now has just been hammering through the updates, with each proving pretty solid, to be fair to Niantic. Season 3: Curse of the Wandering Flames has now launched, bringing with it a weapon, mechanics, and a heap of foes to face.
Let's kick off with a Monster Hunter staple; cooking finally comes to Now. Players can unleash their inner chef on a slab of Raw Meat to create delicious Well-Done Steaks, which will let you start a hunt with a max Special Gauge for five minutes. Failing will result in a Rare Steak or Burnt Meat, but these still offer the same bonus for one minute.
Also important, but less iconic, is the introduction of heavy bowguns. Until November 30th you can undertake a series of quests requiring you to use this new weapon. Complete them, and you will get what you need to craft the Bone Shooter and upgrade it to Grade 6.
After claiming your new killing machine, complete the urgent quests to unlock Aknosom, Magnamalo, and Rajang. You can also unlock Mizutsune and Nightshade Paolumu, who before now were event exclusives. Unfortunately, certain monsters will be ripped from the field and locked behind urgent missions, for some arbitrary progression reasons I am sure.
Users of the social network TwiX will be able to take part in a repost campaign. Head to either the English or Japanese account and share the post that popped up on the 12th to unlock an offer code when it reaches 5,000 reposts. This will include Monster Bone+s’, Earth Crystals, and Potions.
Finally, if you are someone who streams, you will now be able to flip on the Streamer Mode in Settings. This will restrict Hunter names, Niantic IDs, Guild Cards, Friend-related Information, and Location data. You can also enable Hide Roads on Map to conceal road information and look like you are hunting in the void. Not the intent, but it amuses me.
Monster Hunter Now can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
