Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket releases an event it doesn’t have the card depth to keep interesting
Another day, another gripe about Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket. Today, it is the two new events that have been announced. It might be surprising to hear, but one of them I actually like, but as for the other one, prepare for the customary complaining.
Let’s start with the lovely news; a free promo card for all! The Pokemon Company is giving this away to commemorate 40 billion cards being acquired worldwide by all players. This is a fabulous amount that is only slightly let down by no doubt 99% of them being low-rarity duplicates. I base this on my own experience still not completing the Mystical Island binder of 68 cards despite opening a huge number of packs.
Anyway, that aside, this card in question is an adorably designed Pokedex. It features all four potential starters from Generation one; Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Pikachu. It's just a shame I never use this card in duels as it is lovely to look at. You can pick it up by logging in before April 30th.
Next, a new aesthetic to grind for. The Mythical Island SP Emblem Event will last until the 27th, so you don’t have an overly long time to get going. In order to win yourself a shiny green Pokeball picture, you are going to need to win a number of online battles consecutively.
Given the fact we have perhaps three meta decks and success largely depends on your opening hand, prepare for an incredibly frustrating journey. To get the Gold Emblem you need five consecutive wins, avoiding Mewtwo's infinite apocalyptic damage, Celebi’s endlessly ramping coin flips, and one incredibly accessible and angry fish. I feel like, at this point, the event will cause far more aggro than it is worth.
Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
